Galatians 6:9 * Let us do good

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

This page is inspired by the 30 Days of Bible Lettering Challenge on Instagram Day 1. I gave it a fall background with two stencils by Tim Holtz and added some Washi Tape and stickers.

Genesis 9:16 * Whenever the Rainbow appears

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. Genesis 9:16

Hi there and welcome to my blog. Today, I have a new Paper Smooches Challenge inspiration for you. This challenge is all about rainbows and rainbow colors, so I went for the well known verse in Genesis.

For this project, I did not prep my page. I only used Distress Inks and a blending brush to apply color and with this technique, the inks do not bleed through the page.

I started with the rainbow using the Stackers Stencil and Distess Oxide Inks. I used pink, yellow and turquoise and let them mix to create orange and green. Then, I added some more color to my page using the Pattern Stencil. I simply spread different shapes and colors all over my page. The only spot I wanted to keep clean was the verse I was going to highlight. Next, I glued the words Love You to my page. They are part of a fun mix of pre-cut die cuts.

Then, I stamped some fun black accents using small heart and tiny dots stamps. I used pigment ink, which would not bleed through the page. I felt like there was just something missing, so I added a few die cut mini clouds. To finish up my project, I drew a frame around the verse using a ruler and a black pen. I also colored the words of the verse in rainbow colors using colored pencils.

I hope you got inspired. We would love to see your rainbow creations! Hop over to the Paper Smooches Blog to share your project.

Psalm 107 * He stilled the storm

He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:29

Er verwandelte den Sturm in Stille und beruhigte die Wellen. Psalm 107:29

I am part of My Favorite Things design team and I love to create for this wonderful company. We have crafty challenges for everyone who wants to play along. There's a weekly sketch challenge, a by-weekly color combo challenge and more. This BAJ layout is inspired by the current sketch challenge. You can find the sketch and the product list below.

I started with the sea. It's just some simple ink blending using Distress Oxide ink and the Drifts & Hills stencil. It is such an easy but fun way to create an ocean scene. Next, I did the sun. I used Distress Oxide ink again and the Radiating Rays stencil. After ink blendig with the stencil, I did some more over the white spaces of the sun to get lighter and darker rays.

I wanted to highlight one verse, so I covered it with Purple Tape (or washi tape) and ink blended over it. After carefully removing the tape, you can see the highlighted words. I really like this effect.

Now for the little girl. I stamped her onto watercolor paper and colored her with Faber Castel Watercolor Markers. Then, I cut her out using the coordinating die. I glued her in place and stamped some fishes in Distress Oxide ink to give the ocean a bit more interest. Now, I added a handwritten note to the sun and my page was done.

I hope you got inspired. If you'd like to join the My Favorite Stamps Sketch Challenge, hop over to the MFT Blog! We would love to see what you create.

Psalm 33:22 * Unfailing Love

May your unfailing love be with us, Lordeven as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:22

This page looks so calm and peaceful and I love how it turned out. Well, let me tell you the story behind. I started this page with a completely different look in mind. It did not turn out well and I tried to fix it and it just got worse. I disliked the page so much, it really bothered me and I painted all over it with white paint. The white paint mixed with some of the colors below and created a beautiful pastel background. I was so pleased and the perfectionist in me was happy again. I went trough my stash and found this adorable stamp that reminded me of myself and my beloved childhood dog. And as I was crafting, I realized how meaningful this process actually was.

Sometimes, I make mistakes. I regret them, I wish they didn't happen and if I try to fix them on my own, it can get worse. But if I let God into all my troubles, he is able to paint over my mistakes with white paint, so I can have a fresh start. There might be some spots, where the past shines through but God uses them to create something beautiful. So I want to focus on love, on God, and be still and heal.

Psalm 119:165 * Great Peace

Great peace have those who love your law and nothing can make them stumble. Psalm 119:165

I played with my Gelatos and created a large rainbow all over my page. But first, I masked off the verse I wanted to highlight with washi tape. After the coloring was done, I removed the tape carefully and drew a frame around the words to highlight them even more. Because Gelatos can smear, I used some fixing spray to seal them.

Next, I die cut the dove, the word and two clouds from white card stock and heavyweight vellum. I glued the bird in place and added a green die cut twig. As glue would be visible behind the clouds, I adhered them with small staples. To finish up the page, I wrote my main thought down.

What is your favorite bible verse against anxiety?
